MDes Interior Design School of Design

Xintong Yu

My research focuses on themed interior design and scenic design. Based on contemporary audiences in new media contexts, the goals of interior design have gone far beyond functionality. Film, fashion and literature often inspire my designs and I am increasingly aware of the uniqueness of culture in different contexts and its important influence in design. Every designer has his or her own world view and aesthetic sequence, and I am keen to make more people feel the significance of space through the “storytelling” of social propositions. The important thing may not be “solution”, but “perception”.

Participants take on the perspective of fictional characters to re-envision value judgements in the real world. In the immersive stage space, the audience can resist the rules and ethics, and feel a state of freedom that has a mirror mapping with reality but is not bound, which not only satisfies their personal imagination needs, but also helps them reconstruct their personal identity positioning in reality, and completes the ideological mapping of the real society through the theatre space.
