A Localized Cooling Alternate to an AC

Uses about 1/3rd energy compared to an AC rated to cool the room. Ex a Small sized bed unit draws 550 watts in total whereas an AC draws an average of 1500 watts, translating into savings of upto 400£ an year

Doesn’t cause any prolonged harm to environment as there’s no need of refrigerants.

Cooling modules used is commonly available form factor, such that it can be swappable for future versions.

No Moving parts much quieter and have longer lifespan.

Exploded view of cooling module and LO.CO (localized cooling) in usage scenario

Effect of heat and humidity and scale of energy consumption of AC's

Limitations of various forms of cooling, where AC's are must, is the opportunity to make an alternate. Should be capable of bringing down the temperature to human comfort zone.

Conceptualization of how the product / Localized cooling can be achieved.

Usage Pattern of potential users (AC users), their inconveniences with AC and opinion of having a wearable alternate indoors

Design Direction, after narrowing down to cool users when in bed

Feasibility Test of various configurations and moving forward on design based on the results obtained.

Final Design is chosen with canopy, the interaction with canopy is on the right whilst the important components are shown in exploded view in left

Working prototype for demonstration purposes and not to scale, remote can be attached magnetically anywhere on the leg supports, also shown are energy and cost savings for various sizes of device
